Apply on time. Ohio Wesleyan’s Priority Deadline is February 15, 2012. If you have missed this date, you should still complete the FAFSA; you may qualify for need-based aid.- Apply at www.fafsa.ed.gov; the form for the 2012-2013 academic year will be available January 1, 2012.
- Before completing the FAFSA, go to www.pin.gov to sign up for a PIN, which you will use for the FAFSA and student loans, if you choose to take advantage of them.
- Sign up for a PIN for the student and keep it in a secure place for future use.
- Sign up for a PIN for one parent and keep it in a secure place. You may use this PIN for multiple children.
- To secure a PIN, you will need your Social Security card, correct name (on Social Security card), and date of birth.
- The following documents are required to complete the online form:
- Student’s Social Security Card
- Parent’s Social Security Card
- Student’s driver’s license (if any)
- Untaxed income records
- Student and parent’s bank statements
- Student and parent’s business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bonds, and other investment records
- Your alien registration or permanent resident card if student or parents are not U.S. citizens
- If you have not filed your 2011 taxes, use your 2010 tax information for both student and parents to estimate your income. Your 2010 W-2s will assist you with this estimate.
- If you have filed your 2011 taxes electronically, and it has been at least 10 working days since you filed, use the IRS retrieval option to complete your income information.
- If you estimate your income and complete your 2011 taxes (file electronically) at a later date, you must return to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete a correction to your FAFSA. Use the IRS retrieval option to complete your income information. Keep these records! You may need them again. Do not mail your records to Federal Student Aid.
- Ohio Wesleyan prospective students who have been admitted will begin to receive their financial aid award offers in early March 2012.
