Depending on resources, some may need more assistance than others. Although certainly important, income alone does not determine your eligibility for financial assistance. Other factors include family size, number of children in college, non-retirement assets, and other unusual expenses. The amount of any financial aid package depends upon your calculated eligibility for funds.

We work with you to determine your need and initial eligibility for assistance. Then, we’ll provide you with a tentative financial aid award. Each financial aid package may be comprised of many elements including scholarships, grants, low-interest student loans, and employment opportunities. Here are some of the resources from which we structure that package:

Ohio Wesleyan Grant

The Ohio Wesleyan Grant is provided to eligible students who file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need. Awards vary in amount based on demonstrated need. This grant program is funded through endowment income and annual gifts from alumni and friends.

Federal Pell Grants

This federal entitlement award is provided to students who file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet the Department of Education’s requirements.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)

Additional, limited federal funds are awarded through OWU’s Office of Financial Aid. Recipients must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the priority deadline and demonstrate eligibility for the federal Pell Grant.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant

State of Ohio grant for students who file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet the requirements set forth by the state of Ohio. Other states also may provide grants for use outside of the home state.
